BUYING FROM The EASTER BROODMARE SALE

1. Last week, on 14th,15th & 16th April in Sydney, Australia a
catalogue of 673 Thoroughbred Broodmares were offered for sale.

2...This would be a an ideal place for new buyers to investigate if
they were keen to buy their first mare. Ideal because there are a
huge number of mares all in one place for you and you can look,
inspect, compare at your leisure or at an intense pace for
several days.

3...The best sires are well represented, the best families are
well represented, and there is a large proportion of good
race winning mares including many Stakes Winners.

4...If you don't know very much about conformation or
bloodlines, then it would be wise to pursue a course of
action to ensure you are confident about being able to use
these tools successfully, or are advised by very successful
people who have the knowledge to help you positively.

5..One internet site published that 596 mares were catalogued,
374 were sold (which represented 74.8%), 126 were passed
in, 96 were withdrawn...Gross for the sale was $21,935,000
which gave an average of $58,649..Top lot sold was the
supplementry 677 entry (Samantha Miss) for $3,850,000.

6..WHAT TO DO?..Perhaps just go to the bank, make a
loan application for $4,000,000, and take the Cheque to
the Auctioneers, and take Miss Samantha to the highest
priced , most successful sire available.

7...If that action would put too much stress on your current
finances, mortgages, marriage, or family plans, then perhaps
you would need to make a plan tailored especially for yourself.

8...If you intend to breed a foal or 2 to race, then play the
percentages and put competitive speed into both sides of
your pedigree because there are more short distance races,
and they sometimes require less specialist training, and less
specialist jockeyship. Even average sprinters can win back to
back races when emphasis is on straight basic speed.

Also your selection for speed can be more effective and
positive than if you persue more stamina orientated breeding
principles. The majority of Stamina sire X Stamina mare matings
can lose too much of that important ingredient called SPEED.

But all is not always straightforward for speed pedigrees,
however, because Nature does reward and require some
unusual patterns in sprinting pedigrees. Thousands of foals
every year are doomed to failure because just about every
top breeder in NZ and Australia show in their Yearling
Sales Pedigrees that they do not understand the principles
and requirements of speed x speed breeding.

Over 30 years ago I couldn't understand why speedy
mares put to sprinting sires quite often resulted in lots of
placed horses, or minor winners. However, the answer was in
the pedigrees as soon as a few dozen were checked. Nature
hides her 3 principles quite well, and after 3 decades, I have
still not seen any pedigree analyst put forward the reasoning
for this, even though I published some of the information in
our publications THE THOROUGHBRED BREEDERS
GUIDE way back in 1986.

9...The ideal mare would be one that had a good racing
record. Tthis means the ability is up front and your expectation
would be so much greater in expecting the foals to also
inherit and have good racing ability.

10...A young mare means there could be plenty of foals left in
it's future breeding career, but an older mare that has already
left a Stakes Winner or two is PROVEN to have the ability
that most mares just will not have or ever attain. You may
have to pay more for good race record, or close relationship
to an outstanding galloper, but class could be priceless if
they deliver similar ability into their progeny in the future.

11...Another bonus would be if the mare has good matings
and several foals already racing or ready for race. A mare
was identified in Australia a few seasons ago and our analysis
indicated the first 2 unraced foals would have Stake Winning
ability. Both foals have now turned into major Stakes Winners,
one just winning a major million dollar Derby race.

Our client checked the first foal, then flew to Australia to buy the
mare, but a conformation check by a major Australian Agency
Principal indicated a few little faults, so bidding up to a pre-
determined budget meant she went to another discerning buyer for
just a few thousand more. Talk about the one that got away!

12...There are still many prospective broodmares of merit
left in this sale, but if your budget is smaller, you have to be
more informed, know what you are doing AND MAKE
SURE YOU HAVE THE ANCESTORS NECESSARY
FOR A STANDOUT MATING. Most high priced mares,
or extremely good racemares are relative failures at stud
because of the unsuitable matings they are subjected to.

13...Here then is the secret to producing great racehorses.
Use a mare with high class speed and ability in her pedigree,
with the best pre-potent ancestor crosses, then match her
with an outstanding sire that has the outstanding crosses,
match-ups and principles that we have found in hundreds
of the most outstanding gallopers in the world.
========================================

14..We compiled the pedigrees of all 673 broodmares listed
in the EASTER BROODMARE Catalogue out to 15
generations to see just what is in the background of this
group of mares. We have found they generally compare quite
closely with lots of solid ideas, & principles which were
found when extending every pedigree in the last 12 years or
so of the KARAKA YEARLING SALES in New Zealand

15...When we went in and checked out all the best gallopers
from all these sales, we find there are slight variations in each
new top galloper, but the broad principles line up very well..

16...Here is a general breakdown of some principles found
when analysing the pedigrees of these 673 mares. We have
taken the liberty to just show the numbers of the mares
that have the most of these principles at the top end.

....249 of these mares were winners

....27 mares averaged 7 or more wins for their 1st 14 ancestors
....71 of these mares averaged 6 wins for their 1st 14 ancestors

....23 averaged more than 13 wins for their 1st 31 male ancestors

....5 mares-(1st 4 dams) have produced 12 or more SW along dam line
....14 mares(1st 4 dams) have produced 10 or 11 SW between them.

===========================================

17....What the above figures show is that there are dozens of
ways that a group of 673 available mares can be compared.
The trick is to know which ones are beneficial, which ones
can compound problems or cause problems so it has been
important to analyse over 57,000 top racehorse pedigrees
to try and sort out what consistent effect each method is having.

18....All these mares can be ranked on the above traits from
the highest one to the lowest one as well as a dozen or more
other not shown ones.

This means you have dozens of comparisons that can be very
meaningful and they all help to identify the better broodmare
prospects for purchasing. Of course, these principles co-exist
with dozens of physical traits and you will also have to evaluate
these conformation traits such as having a majority of stamina
conformation traits, more sprinting, too small or too tall,
crooked legs, lack of constitution, temperament, and there
could be up to 2 dozen other conformation points that
you would benefit by checking thoroughly.

Some highly successful broodmares have quite a few faults,
so you may have to make decisions on a mare that has a
number of very superior traits that you deem highly desirable
and grade the inferior faults/traits in a trade-off situation where
your knowledge and experience tells you they are within
tolerable limits, or are acceptable because of the expected
outstanding benefit of the highly desirable other traits that
the mare possesses.

However, a really poor race and breeding record for 2 dams
in a row would be very hard to accept. Very bad legs faults
may be a real deal breaker. A very poor breeding record
showing lots of dead foals, or missed seasons, or slipped
would be hard to get inspired about.

=============================================

19..Iif you finally bid on a few really good types of mares,
& find more determined or deeper pocketed bidders beating
you, this makes it really hard, because you may have to
settle for a mare with less obvious credential, and to make
matters worse, you will be in competition with these other
mares you couldn't afford, and more than likely these will go
to standout sires, and their progeny will quickly rush and
put up the full signs in the yards of the absolute best trainers.

All may not be lost, although you will have to make sure you
have the pedigree and mare that will be very prepotent,
and by using superior breeding knowlege or techniques,
you can produce that exciting galloper.

20..Perhaps only 1 out of every 10 really superior racemares or
well bred mares will be very successful at stud, so that is a huge
field for study. If you buy from the bottom half of the sale, then
generally, you could expect perhaps 1 out of 100 will be
highly successful,.... so be very patient, very careful, very selective.

The buying of the mare may seem high as this sale averaged over
$58,000 each. But, this is the smaller part of your outlay over the
next 5 or 6 years because agistment, high Stud Fees, and costs
for your foals will double or triple your up front investment.

This leads one to consider that you definitely will have an uphill
battle in future years if your mare does not have either good racing
ability, the best of pedigree as well as a close relationship to some
outstanding gallopers. The best policy is to extend yourself and
buy one superior well performed and well bred mare rather
than several cheapies that are very average in most respects.

21..Another problem arises here, because if your mare and her
immediate family have limited or mediocre ability, then when
you intensify the pedigree, the faults that are there will be
magnified, and you will increasing your chances of producing
duds or cull animals with considerable faults. Bad legs,
lack of speed, or lack of constitution would be high on the list
=========================================

22...In general, I dislike having to conform or to follow fashion
blindly, but a study of the best pedigrees tells us that they are
built up on combinations of the most common, most popular,
and most successful lines.

Therefore, to give yourself a better chance of using the best
ancestors, adhere to fashion and keep to the more popular
bloodlines. because Nature utilizes principles that rewards
this course of action, especially if you are breeding, buying
or standing stallions.

23..Generally, if you move one generation away from the most
popular bloodlines, you would effectively limit all your matings or
sire choices to a very small selection if you want to use the most
effective breeding techniques, and if you move 2 generations away
from the norm, you could be effectively shooting yourself in the foot..

24...I have compiled all the pedigrees of these 673 mares
and counted up how many times each ancestor appears as
a duplication. There are 3002 separate ancestors that
appear two times or more in this group, which is quite a big
number, but there is a very small number that predominate.

25...I've listed the 25 horses that appear the most often,
and you will notice the huge preponderance of US bred
horses, plus how interrelated these most popular and
successful animals are, and also the amazing success of
TESIO'S unbeaten Nearco and his descendents

================================================
26...SICKLE(Phalaris x Chaucer) decends to NATIVE
DANCER (appears 542 times)which sired RAISE A NATIVE
(378 times), himself sire of MR PROSPECTOR(250)

NATIVE DANCER(542) sired NATALMA(711), dam of
NORTHERN DANCER(786).the sire of DANZIG(209)

PHAROS(Phalaris x Chaucer) sired NEARCO(345) the sire
of NASRULLAH(448), which sired BOLD RULER(203)
NASRULLAH(448) also left NASHUA(224) the sire of
GOLD DIGGER(245) the dam of MR PROSPECTOR(250)

NEARCO(345) also left NEARCTIC(636), the sire of
NORTHERN DANCER(786) which sired DANZIG(209)

NEARCO(345) to TURN-TO(274)..sire of SIR
GAYLORD(265) the sire of SIR IVOR(261) as well as
HAIL TO REASON(216)

PHARAMOND(Phalaris x Chaucer) to BUCKPASSER(231)
to ATTICA(205)..to SIR IVOR(261)

There are lots of other intricate relationships,(HYPERION
has good linkups) but these examples give a very good idea
that the vast majority of the most prolific and successful
bloodlines are very interwoven, so sticking to this powerful
nucleus of the best ancestors may help you get the best results..

RED MAGIC- Our colt getting ready to race

Here are some particulars about our 2yo colt RED MAGIC,
that we are getting ready to race in about 6 months time..

He is 2 years old and bred to Northern Hemiphere time-
(foaled 20/Jan/2007)From the time of identifying the mare,
getting her bred, a year of gestation, and now two and a half
years later, this staying bred colt is getting ready to go into
pre-training within the next 2 months.

THIS HAS BEEN A LONG, EXPENSIVE PROCESS,
so you new intending owners need to do your sums, and look
at spreading the risk by forming a syndicate of really good
reliable partners. (Budget on $1,000 a month for good agistment ,
and $2000 a month when in full training). New owners and
breeders need to be aware of this possible very lengthy time
of up to 4 years to get your first foal to the races if you start
out now and contemplate a staying bred mating.

You could save a year if you invest in a more precocious sire
and dam that would give you a significantly better chance of
racing as a 2yo. This would certainly give you an advantage in
earlier growth, more muscle and obviously more chance of
having both more basic speed and more early speed. It would
give you that advantage essential to yearling sale size if you
wanted to keep your options open , and of course there are
far more races for horses at the sprint distances of 1200m or
1400m than for middle-distances past 1600m,so you are also
increasing your chances of breeding or owning a winner.

However, sprinters do have some problem areas where 2yo's
can be over-exerted and not come back as 3yo's.

Immature skeletons, immature muscling and leg bone formations
are especially prone to stress, as well as the fragile nervous system.

Ssome sprinters fail to improve with age, some sprinters tend
to fade or slow down after 1200m, some sprinters have less
ability to absorb shock with shorter pasterns.

Over 30 years ago, I trained 4 horses and won with all of them.
Had a win in every 5 starts which was the best stat for the track..
Two were very sound and started over 40 times each. The
other 2 were very fast, but both had soundness issues from
an inbred sire and unraced dam.Good selection of your
parent stock is the breeders greatest asset. Try and breed
for soundness, and for toughness and durability besides high
class ability. I'll list the great breeder TESIO's horses to show
this trait in another article later on. I've studied his matings for
over 30 years and continue to be blown away by his knowledge,
insight and selection ability. For a variety of reasons and
circumstances, we have opted for a staying bred colt that is
not perfect, but he does look to have potential. It is much
harder to get staying bred colts to win races, because the
stamina from both sides of the pedigree blunts the opposite
trait of speed. This is why there are hundreds of average
stayers for every standout stayer that has that magic trait of
acceleration at the end of a staying race. When engineering
this mating, we tried to get all the 5 main methods for putting
speed into a staying pedigree. We are reasonably pleased
with the result, but would have liked improvement in about
5 other main areas. We have got a lot of good principles in
this mating, but have to wear otherless desirable traits that
came along with the package. He may not win a race ( that is
the risk of horse-racing where about 68% of horses don't win)
but we certainly hope he gets the benefit of a lot of superior
genetic tie-ups in his back-ground ancestry. BELOW is an
abridged letter that we sent to one of Australia's biggest
Blood Stock Agencies that we have done a lot of pedigree
work for, showing some of the things in the background
of this colt.
This should give new owners or breeders some idea
of the complexity looked for when contemplating a mating.
These comments are derived from over 100 pages of
intensive charts, computer print outs and ancestry linking. ========================================

TWENTY FIVE Month old Chestnut colt.-(Ready for pre-
training in the next 2 months)
1…PARTNERS WANTED TO RACE THIS COLT.
(Half/or 5 of 10 shares for sale)
Looking for a partner or partners to race a colt with us.
He looks to have huge potential. He goes away to pre-training
about June 1st for 5 or 6 weeks, and NZ top Trainer Mark
Walker will inspect his progress and if all goes well, he will
enter his stable for Spring racing. We expect him to win before
his Christmas break, and hope he will be really competitive
against the best 3yo’s in the Autumn. If he races up to his
pedigree and conformation, we think he should be aimed at
some selected Australian Stakes Races as a 4yo.He was
foaled Jan 20th, 2007, and is a 25 month old bright chestnut
colt by ISTIDAAD out of CATSEEKA…(PEDIGREE
ATTACHED)

2…He did a 6-week course of long reining, bitting, backing
and floating. Very nice temperament and nice action .
The breaking in people were highly impressed and are
breaking their necks to get him back to train, but I want the
absolute best NZ or AUST trainer opportunities for him.

3…Helen, myself, 2 daughters and Son-In-Law have all
taken a share, leaving 5 shares at nz$...

4…I have done a couple of dozen worthwhile but
non-commercial matings-(Usually $1,000 mares) for the stud
where he comes from, (I recommended ISTADAAD’S
purchase as a sire from a hundred prospects) & my matings
and principleshave resulted in CONGRATS-(5w in row-G3)..
JUSTA TAD-(G11) , SUGAR DAAD-(7w-2nd in Aust
Grand National),LADY LUCILLE- (4thG1), her sister-(3L
first start),KENADAAD-(LL) and a few other Black Type
earners. But this colt is the best bred, with the best crosses and
the best potential of them all.

5….The sire ISTIDAAD was a G1 winner of the Australian
Cup and 8 times G1 placed. (6 wins- G122 worth $1,757,236).
He ran virtual National Australian Records..eg 1m 59.40 for
2000m and 1m 45.32 for 1800m. A very sound horse that
ran about 40 times and was a top class stayer that got better
with age, just like his progeny are demonstrating.

6….Last year he was 6th on the NZ sires table and 8th this
year without serving any commercial mares. Would have
liked to have been seriously rather than casually involved
in getting the right mares for this stallion, as he could have
been Champion NZ sire by now based on VG results from
a very few suitable matings. Has has had no top mares, or
even K1 or K2 commercial mares, and few suitable mares.

7… ISTIDAAD is by Champion CHIEF’S CROWN..
12wins-(8 x G1)$2,191,169) the son of the phenomenal
DANZIG-(Sired 190 SW) out of a daughter of Champion
SECRETARIAT- (Triple Crown-16w-$1,316,808), and his
next 3 sires were Champions SWOON’S Son-(30 wins-
$970,605), TVLARK- 19wins-$902,194) and PONDER-
(14wins-Kentucky Derby-$541,275).

8…ISTIDAAD’s dam left 2SW, and is by Champion
ROBERTO-(7w-G111-EngDerby-$339,902) and the next
4 sires were top class gallopers. Eg.. NIGHT INVADER-
( 8w- $270,973), LOSER WEEPER-(16w-8SW-$232,920),
OCCUPY-(21w-$217,214) and POMPEY-(13w- $143,495.)

9…The dam of this colt is CATSEEKA, a winning and
prepotent mare inbred 4x3 to one of America’s greatest
sires,NORTHERN DANCER, (Worlds leading sire of SW-
(147 SW)until superseded by his son DANZIG –(190 SW)
and grandson DANEHILL-(334 SW).

10..She has 3 of the most successful sires of SW in the world
close up in her pedigree, eg. STORM CAT-(163 SW),
MR PROSPECTOR -(175 SW), NORTHERN DANCER-
(147 SW). Being a winning mare, balanced inbred 4x3 to
Champion NORTHERN DANCER, and with outstanding
stallions close up in her pedigree and with some very impressive
line-breeding, she looks to have all the qualifications to be
able to leave a high class Stakes Winner, if bred to a highclass,
very suitable stallion that hits her pre-potency.

11..CATSEEKA is a daughter of STORM CAT stallion
MOUNTAIN CAT, the 1st colt of his crop to win over
a million dollars in the USA as a 2yo. He was a very fast
stallion, won 6 races-G2333- $1,478,90112..His sire
STORM CAT (4w-G1-$570,610) was so outstanding
that he commanded the highest Stud Fee in the world
for quite a few years. His 1st dam was by Champion
KEY TO THE MINT- (14w- $576,015), his 2nd dam
was by Champion NEVER BEND-(13w-KenD
-$641,524),and his 3rd dam was the Champion race
mare DAINTY PRINCESS-15wins.

13..This Jan 2007 Chestnut colt is the first foal of
CATSEEKA. His 2nd dam DANS’ORE is a muscular,
very well made mare standing just over 16 hands. She is
one of the most striking mares I’ve ever seen. Her first 4
foals to race have all been winners, and every other mare
within this colts 5 generation pedigree, ( eg..first 31 dams)
has produced one or more Stakes Winners which is real
depth of breeding ability..

14..DANS’ ORE is by G1 winner MINING-(6w-G1-
$264,030), the high class son of Multiple Champion sire
MR PROSPECTOR-(7wins) from a daughter of
Champion galloper & sire BUCKPASSER-(25w-
$1,462,014) andnext sire was Champion MAJESTIC
PRINCE-(9w-KenDerby- $414,200)15…Second dam
DANCING DORIS-(2w2L,3G2,2L-D8w-2SW) is by
Champion galloper & sire NORTHERN DANCER-(14w-
$580,640) from hard hitting race-mareDORIS WHITE-(4w
- D5w- 3SW).Her next 2 sires were top gallopers
BLACKBEARD-6wins and COUNTY DELIGHT- 9wins.

16…Since putting together this pedigree, there are at least
14 current millionaire horses bred on similar crosses , and
similar breeding principles to this colt.. Below are listed
some of them

No 1----SEBRING2005….This years G1 Golden Slipper
winner with the same NORTHERN DANCER triple cross,
plus the HAIL TO REASON /MR PROSPECTOR tie-ups.

NB..there are over 30+ more standout gallopers with
similar crosses below the millionaire earnings level.

17….As you can see, this colt has enormous potential based
on the success of other outstanding gallopers bred in similar
very powerful ways just the way he is.

18….BUT,…. THIS COLT HAS 2 OTHER EXCEPTIONAL
CROSSES WHICH ARE EXPECTED TO ENABLE HIM
TO HAVE A VERY STRONG FINISH IN HIS RACES.

19….His sire ISTIDAAD –(6w-G122-$1,750,000-8xG1
placed) is very prepotent to .the World Class,TRIPLE
CROWN galloper SECRETARIAT-(16w-$1,316,808) in
his .pedigree because of a strong INTRICATE 3x2 cross of
both SECRETARIAT and a genetic female relative.

20…. This hits the same powerful cross of SECRETARIAT
–(and his 3x1 intricate with a female .genetic relative) as well,
in the outstanding broodmare sire MOUNTAIN CAT.

There are 4 principles involved in this cross, plus he has
another even stronger cross to back this up, and this is where
he got his name MAGIC from..

21…..This ISTIDAAD colt has the same bright chestnut
colour that SECRETARIAT had, .so it can be assumed that
this very powerful cross that resulted in the Millionaire
earning sire (ISTIDAAD) and Millionaire earning maternal
sire (MOUNTAIN CAT) .when multiplied many times over
in this colts pedigree, should have the same beneficial .effect,
especially as he has the brilliant specialized concentrations
that resulted in .WEEKEND HUSSLER, CURLIN and a
number of other World Class gallopers.
======================================

22…I’ve looked at the ability throughout the pedigree and
have been very impressed that every sire has been a sire of
STAKESWINNERS. In fact, the 1st 31 sires out to 5
generations have sired 1,996 STAKES WINNERS to date,
which is an average of 64.38 per sire. That would be very
hard to beat!!

23…The first 31 dams in the pedigree out to 5 generations
have produced 67 STAKES WINNERS, which is an
average of 2.16 STAKES WINNERS EACH for the first
31 dams

.24…The first 31 sires in his pedigree have AVERAGED
a huge 12.10 wins each.Tthe first 31 dams in his pedigree
have averaged a huge 4.10 wins each, so plenty of racing
ability throughout the pedigree. – His first 62 ancestors to
5 generations all averaged an impressive ……7.97 wins

.25….This colt has the same coat colour of his linebred
ancestor SECRETARIAT, a World and USA Record
setter, and Triple Crown winner of 16 races, which is a
key duplication.in the pedigree, so leads one to think the
influence will be very strong and beneficial.

26…This colt is the same shape as ISTADAAD’s
STAKESWINNERS…JUSTA TAD, ISTISTAR,
KENADAAD, MICKEY, CAPTIOUS, TEDRIFFIC,
and CONGRATS, all of which we have inspected

27…He has the make and shape of a stayer, in the same
mold as his sire ISTIDAAD, which was a GROUP 1
WINNER,and we expect this colt to have the same level
of racing ability, as he has exciting and concentrated
linebreeding which has resulted in many millionaires and
several World Champions.

28…We particularly like his good hip to hock length,
and straight hocks which promise extra good push and very
good length of stride, and we expect him to have a big finish.

29…He does toe out slightly in both front feet, just like his
sire ISTADAAD, but as he raced and etired sound, we do
not think there will be any problem there. We checked with
the farrier who put shoes on him at the breaking in stage, and he
said he was fine.

He quoted about 9 top StakesWinning horses running at
the moment that did actually have really bad leg conformation
and they were running and winning in the best company, so
that gives some reassurance.

30…ISTIDAAD is a fraction over 16 hands, CATSEEKA
is about 15 hands 3 inches, granddam DANS’ORE is a
good sized, really well muscled mare that went through the
sale ring recently for about $55,000, and stands a fraction
above 16hands.
We think this colt will take after NORTHERN DANCER
which appears 3 times in his pedigree & is about15 hands
3 inches, the approximate height of other close ancestors
CHIEFS CROWN-(8x G1), DANZIG-(190SW),
STORM CAT-(159 SW), & MR PROSPECTOR-
(168 SW).

31…This colt should be a finer built, staying colt, about 15h 3”,
hopefully a STAKES WINNER as a late 3yo, and expected
to get better as a 4yo and 5yo in the staying Cups races.

32…If we can get some good partners to take a half share
in the colt, we would like to get an agreement to really feed
him well here for a year through this winter and the next, then
get him into a top stable in Australia for late Spring racing or
preferably Autumn racing where we think he will do very well.

33…If Australian partners do not materialize, we will retain
ownership here in NZ, put him into the best possible stable
here, carefully analyse & assess his potential, then race him
in Australia as a 4yo.

NB…We are really keen to invite highly interested owners
who would be really keen and interested in racing this colt
with us.We are looking very hard for a follow up horse or 2
with more speed potential, and high class ability in the dam

NB…We have compiled the pedigrees of over 48,000 mares
in the last 3 Australian Stud Books .and found a large group
of mares with a huge advantage if they were to go to a sire
with the right bloodlines. We are on the track of a stand-out
racing colt with phenomenal tie-ups and a high suitability for
these high class Australian mares, aiming for a sire that could
have a potential to be Champion.Australian Sire if we can get
enough of these right mares.

WOULD APPRECIATE IF ANYONE COULD LET US
KNOW OF ANY APPROACHABLE STUD MASTER
IN AUSTRALIA THAT WE COULD DO BUSINESS
WITH BY STANDING THIS COLT, .WHEN WE
FINALLY FIND, PURCHASE AND SECURE HIM?

PREVIOUS ADVERT FOR YEARLING SALES

Here is a previous add we ran to show new owners
or breeders some of the more intensive analysis and
research that is available to try and find better racing
or breeding bloodstock.

2006 YEARLING SALE SELECTION. Dec 2006-Pg1 ======================================

1…Our efficient team have compiled the pedigrees for all
the yearlings entered in the 2006 KARAKA Yearling Sales.
This year there are 1528 yearlings.

2…We have a MORE SOPHISTICATED ANALYSIS
programme than those currently available on the market,
it includes over 20 methods of comparing the linebreeding
of over 46,300 extremely good racehorses world wide.

3….Each method helps to explain some aspects of speed,
stamina, fast finishing ability, and the principles applied to
each sire and dam of a top racehorse also explain why they
have the ability to pass on speed and racing ability.

4….However, these methods do not completely explain
why certain individuals have that magical edge over the best
opposition available……UNTIL NOW!.

5….We have finally computerized an OUTSTANDING
PRINCIPLE OF BREEDING that allows Nature to
reward with repeated and additive ability, especially
culminating in that ability to finish faster than all other
opposition at the top level.

6…. We have compared all yearlings for a number of years
and identified over 160 SW, but the intensive linebreeding
methods still give a WIDE RANGE OF RESULTS. They
can duplicate POSITIVE or NEGATIVE TRAITS from
both parents and polarize them for opposite effects.

The few that get a major inheritance of superior traits still
require good legs, conformation, constitution, rearing,
training and jockeyship to succeed.

The unlucky ones get traits which lead to break down,
wind problems, faulty leg alignment, delicate constitution,
inefficient hearts, faulty temperaments.

7….We dissected about 30 champions because horses
like Octagonal and Sunline and over 300 similar outstanding
“Champions” just could not be picked up by comparing all
these horses by their linebreeding methods alone.

8….There are lots of requirements in a top pedigree. The
Sire and Dam have to have quite a few principles, as do
the ancestors in previous generations. However, when we
discovered the 2 PART OVERRIDING PRINCIPLE
which Nature rewards, then it has been very easy to
explain recent top horses like:

OCTAGONAL-14w-G1x10-$5,892,231 SUNLINE-32w-
G1x13-$11,201,607 NORTHERLY-19w-$9,341,850
ROUGH HABIT-29w-$3,785,720 MAKYBE DIVA-15w
-$14,526,685 STARCRAFT-9w-G11-$2,417,299
MISS POTENTIAL-8w-G111-$1,227,530
XCELLENT-6w-G1111-$1,360,645

9….All these horses could not be identified by breeding,
family or linebreeding alone. BUT they have an extremely
high OVERRIDING PRINCIPLE index that place them
way above all the ordinary horses, and which gives Nature
a multiplication option when the 2nd principle is operated.
======================================
OUR TEAM HAS THE FOLLOWING OPTIONS
AVAILABLE. OPTION 1..WE ANALYSE YOUR
SELECTIONS,( PRESALE, UP TO, DURING SALE).

YOU physically inspect the yearlings and eliminate all the
ones that can be culled by too big/too small size, leg
alignment outside tolerable limits, lack of character, poor
balance or constitution, poor type, bad action, bone, poor
hind hock push and reach etc

Then we will giveYOUR SELECTED HORSES a thorough
pedigree examination and prepare for you a report which
would give you a very good understanding of the horses
expected racecourse potential.

We can e-mail reports for the next month leading up to the
sale, and do reports during the sale from Monday 30th Jan
to Monday 6 February, when we are at the sale. Great
value here for intense Consultant work for 5 weeks

======================================
OPTION 2…ALL YEARLINGS RANKED FROM
HIGHEST TO LOWEST ON 10 PRINCIPLES.

We have compiled all 1528 pedigrees to 10 generations
and can e-mail a chart of main principles RANKING some
important BREEDING PRINCIPLES across all yearlings
eg….all yearlings ranked by AMOUNT of linebreeding,
Numbers of linebred ancestors, No. female lines, Balance,
Chains, Matching, Focus 4, Performance for 5 generations,
By average wins for first 31 sires, By average wins for first
31 female ancestors, By inbred ancestors, By total
prepotency, or from a selection of other principles..

These RANKED charts could be sent by return e-mail…
(This option is free with a purchase of OPTION 1 ).

=======================================

OPTION 3…..OUR 15 BEST RECOMMENDED
PEDIGREE SELECTIONS WITH SW POTENTIAL.

This option would require a tremendous amount of
investigation and ancestor and figure checking, and would
take about 14 days to complete, with 1,528 full pedigrees
having to be investigated…

We have several requirements for a sire to leave SW
progeny, more for the dam, and then the yearling needs to
pass requirements for Breeding Principles found in most
Champion gallopers, so this eliminates most and leaves a
very select few to thoroughly check for its physical type,
speed factors, and conformation strengths.

Adds a very high probability of success at the upper end
based on research and past success.

======================================

OPTION 4….AN INDIVIDUAL ASSESSMENT OF
YOUR SELECTION IS AVAILABLE.

Full investigation and a full written report provided.
Available before sales, or DURING SALES WEEK.

1....Most new owners and breeders make many decisions that
lack experience, understanding or are based on hope rather
than a solid core of knowledge that usually requires 10 to 20
years of dedicated research to acquire.

2..We would like to advertise that extensive knowledge and
advice is available and it can be acquired very reasonably
with a strong possibility of saving huge amounts of money,
plus using advanced Breeding Principles gleaned from over
thousands of pedigrees has been highly successful and can
lead to very good success in the future.

3...Some following posts will try to outline some opportunities
to assess your present horses, your present matings, your
future matings, or purchases in terms of yearlings, racehorses,
broodmares or stallions.

....Regards,
....Les Pratt
